Chemical Peels

What are Chemical peels?
Throughout the ages, women have been using the acids in soured milk, vinegar and other chemicals to make them look younger. Now, the active ingredient in these compounds have been isolated and can be applied safely to produce younger looking skin. Three types of chemical peels are available; superfical, medium & deep peel.

Superficial peels using AHA/ Glycolic are gentle, gradual and excellent for improving skin texture, colour and appearance. Treatment begins by the client using a 10% gel at home for two to three weeks. The client then returns to the clinic at one to three week intervals, where a doctor applies AHA to the skin. The percentage of AHA is gradually increased with each session and the client continues to use the 10% gel at home. A normal lifestyle can be resumed immediately after each peel, although temporary redness may occur in some individuals.

Medium Depth Peel - This wonderfully effective peel uses an advanced layering technique to dramatically improve the effects of sun damage and ageing. Unlike most medium depth peels, the skin heals rapidly and smooth pink skin is apparent three days post peel. Redness will gradually lessen over the next few weeks but can easily be covered up by make-up. Results are stunning and you will be absolutely amazed at the improvement!

Deep peel using TCA or Phenol is effective for severly sun-damaged skin and acne scars. The chemical solution is applied by a doctor and will cause short term discomfort. Clients are advised against returning to work for 1-2 weeks while the old skin sheds. New skin is baby soft, smooth and younger looking. This is a real non-surgical facelift!

Microscleroherapy

Embarrassed to wear mini skirts or shorts because of leg veins? Well, don't worry because cellite clinic has the latest technology to treat them effectively.

What is Microsclerotherapy?
Microsclerotherapy is a non-surgical office procedure that can treat most diseased surface veins. Medication is dripped into a vein using an extremely thin needle. The medication closes down the vein walls so that they stick together and are gradually reabsorbed by the body. Getting rid of these diseased veins actually improves the circulation and makes the legs healthier. For those who do not like needles, we can use laser energy to close the veins.

What causes vein problems ?
Veins carry blood to the heart through one-way valve systems. When there is a weakness in the vein or a faulty valve, the valve stretches and no longer closes properly. The veins become filled with blood that cannot flow normally, causing pain, swelling, discoloration, sores that will not heal, blood clots and other problems.

Treatment
You will need several sclerotherapy or laser sessions for any vein region, lasting about half an hour each time. Depending on the type and number of veins being treated you may have one to many injections per session. Generally normal activities can be resumed after sclerotherapy and in fact we advise that you are mobile for a couple of hours post treatment. Medically prescribed support hose and bandages need to be worn for at least three days but preferably for a week to assist in resolution of the veins. After this, you may remove the bandages but we recommend that you continue to wear the stockings during the day for a few weeks. The procedure, performed in the clinic, usually causes only minimal discomfort. Bruising and pigmentation almost always fades, but it can last for several months. Scarring and other complications are rare.

Muscle Relaxing Injections

What are muscle relaxing injections for?
Dynamic wrinkles are caused by contractions of the delicate underlying facial muscles every time you smile, laugh or frown. The more emotion you show, the deeper these wrinkles and lines are likely to be. While you may have earned every one of your worry lines, you don't have to show them anymore.

Now, thanks to a new use for an approved drug, dynamic lines can be dramatically softened. The procedure known as cosmetic denervation uses muscle relaxing injections to improve the apperance of worry lines, frown lines, laugh lines, crow's feet and other dynamic wrinkles.

How do muscle relaxing injections work?
Muscle relaxing injections block impulses from the nerve to the tiny facial muscles that are related to expression lines and relaxes the muscles so they do not contract. After treatment, the overlying skin remains smooth and unwrinkled while the untreated facial muscles contract in a normal fashion, allowing normal facial expression to be unaffected.

Are muscle relaxing injections safe?
Muscle relaxing injections have been used safely and effectively for over ten years to treat many opthalmological and neurological disorders. Each year thousands of patients receive treatments for a variety of conditions and it is quickly becoming a popular treatment for reversing the visible signs of aging.

What is the treatment like?
Cosmetic denervation is a simple and safe procedure. Using a tiny microneedle, a very small injection is made, very precisely, into several locations on the face. Because the needle is so fine and only a small amount of liquid is used, the pain associated with the injections is minimal. Most patients compare the sensation to a bug bite. No sedation or local anesthetic is required, and you can resume normal activities immediately. You can even drive yourself home or back to the office. Some patients experience a slight temporary bruising at the injection site. This can be covered with make-up.

Are there any side effects?
Temporary bruising is the most common side effect. In some cases, the toxin can migrate and cause a temporary weakness of nearby muscles. In rare cases, there can be a drooping of an eyelid or asymmetry of facial expression. The risk of any side effect depends on the muscles injected. Your doctor will discuss this with you in length before your treatment.

What results can I expect?
If dynamic wrinkles make you look older than you are, cosmetic denervation can smooth these out and give you a more youthful and pleasant appearance. However, this procedure cannot improve wrinkles due to aging and sun-damaged skin since they are unrelated to facial muscle contractions. Muscle relaxing injections will not improve sagging skin or replace the need for a facelift or brow lift.

What are the limitations of muscle relaxing injections?
Unfortunately, muscle relaxing injections are only a temporary solution for the treatment of dynamic wrinkles. The effects of the injections last from three to four months. You will need to have injections about every four months. The early clinical studies indicate that the duration of treatment benefits is increased over time so that you should require injections less frequently in the future. Also, the duration of effect varies from patient to patient and may be less effective for those over 65 years of age.
